Which beaches really allow dogs, where to sleep and how to move by transfer with your pet.
The dog-friendly beaches
The Maresme and Baix Emporda hold the most consistent dog beaches: les Avellanes (Malgrat-Santa Susanna) is the best equipped (dog shower included), followed by the dog area of Bogatell beach in Barcelona and Treumal cove between Blanes and Lloret. In high season, dog-friendly stretches are signposted with paw flags.
Sleeping and eating with a dog
Lloret, Platja d'Aro and Sant Feliu concentrate the widest pet-friendly offer: hotels taking dogs at no room charge and beach bars with a water bowl on the terrace. Practical rule: book mentioning it — there is a difference between allowing a dog and welcoming one.
Moving by transfer with a pet
Private transfers take pets without issue: in an approved carrier they travel in the boot, and calm medium dogs can ride on the back seat harnessed. Just mention it in the request notes so the right vehicle is assigned (foldable seats). The commuter train also takes small dogs in carriers.
