The best time to visit the Costa Brava month by month (2026-27)
Weather, prices, crowds and water temperature: the perfect month for every kind of trip, April to October.
April and May: the insider pick
Everything open, 20-24 degrees, low-season prices and the coast to yourself. Water is fresh (16-18) for long swims, but for walking, eating and the first beach days it is unbeatable. Easter week is the exception: it behaves like August.
June and September: the sweet spot
Warm water (21-24), all boat and bus frequencies running, and still room in the coves. September also brings the best light of the year for photos and the flattest sea. If you can only pick one month: the first fortnight of September.
July and August: the Costa Brava at full throttle
All the good (water at 25, cremat nights, town festivals) and all the bad (peak prices, coves full by 11, Friday getaway traffic). If you travel in August: book the transfer 72 hours ahead, beach before 10 and a proper siesta.
October and winter: the locals coast
October still gifts swim days (20-22 degrees) with beach bars on their last shifts. From November to March the Costa Brava is another place: quiet villages, seasonal restaurants and the best time for inland villages and wine tourism. Transfers run all year round.
